Born in 1968. After leaving Musashino Art University before graduating, Daisuke Nakayama utilized images of weapons as a motif to express extremeness in his installation works. Never tied down to a particular technique, his innovative expressions attracted attentions from both inside and outside of Japan. After winning the Rockefeller Foundation scholarship, he moved to New York in 1997 and resided there for six years. During his overseas stay, his exhibits in Europe again attracted wide attention, which led to his Taipei Biennial (Taiwan) exhibit in 1998, Kwangju Biennale (South Korea) exhibit in 2000, and ultimately became the Japanese Representative Artist for the Lyon Biennale (France) exhibit also in 2000. Re-establishing himself in Tokyo from 2002, his recent activities includes art direction for New York Collection fashion brands such as Claudia Hill, theatrical stage art design, store interior art direction, concept creations, etc., transcending genres through his collaborative works. 毎週、早朝に東京駅に向かう生活も、はや1年。 山形に向かって変化する車窓の風景も魅力だけれど、朝の丸の内の静寂も気に入ってます。 早い便に乗る時は、6時台なので丸の内はほんとうに静か。 うるさい看板もなく、ゆったりとビルが建っているので、光がたっぷり。 国の中心地はおおらかです。 それにしても自宅から東京駅に向かうタクシー、運転手さんによってこんなにも所要時間が違うものでしょうか。最速レコードは9分ちょっと。もちろん奇跡の青信号&スピード速めの運転だけれど、なによりも巧かったのは車線変更と先の交通状況の読み具合。プロ中のプロでした。ちなみに最遅は25分。全ての判断が鈍行。さすがに一本乗り遅れる事に。 山形新幹線、一本遅れるとほぼ1時間待ち。今度は家に戻って寝なおします。 |
