Pop art superstar JEFF KOONS unveiled his newest series of large-scale paintings at the opening of his “HULK ELVIS” show on Monday at Gagosian Gallery’s London outpost. Known for his manipulation of ordinary & otherwise household objects into colorful tableaus of Pop ponderance, Koons has delivered another batch of heavily-layered paintings dominated by his newest visual obsessions: Inflatable Hulk & monkey dolls. The theme of Koons’ show was breached when his series of signature skate decks for Supreme featuring imagery from the upcoming exhibit was released earlier this year and in the 17 giant pieces seen here in London, the themes of wanton Pop idolatry continue unabated.
