 1960 年 神奈川県鎌倉生まれ。
大阪芸術大学芸術学部写真学科卒業後、早崎治氏に師事。フランスにてフリーの写真家として活動を開始して以来、数多くの個展を開催すると同時に、広告写真及びにCFなども手掛けその活動領域は多岐にわたる。
撮影監督を務めた映画「青い魚」は、1996年ベルリン国際映画祭にて正式招待作品として上映された。2004年フランス国立図書館に作品10 点が収蔵される。 また2005年6月には、ニューヨークのPace/MacGill Galleryにおける「Made in the Shade」展に出展。2006年12月～2007年、東京南青山のreed space tokyoにて「あたたかいところ」展、開催。

Ichigo Sugawara was born in Yokohama, Japan in 1960. He graduated from Osaka University of Arts in 1985 with a BFA majoring in photography. Since then, his signature black and white stills have captured the imagination of the world. In 1996, he was the director of photography in the movie Blue Fish, an officially invited film of the Berlin International Film Festival. More recently in 2004, his work became the permanent collection of the National Library of France. In 2005, he held a group exhibition with Robert Frank and Harry Callahan at the Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York and in 2006, he was the director of the opening of the animation Mushishi that won the best award in the Tokyo International Fair.

早いもので、-butcher-こと浅野祥之さんが亡くなって、
あっという間にもうすぐ五ヶ月。
それでもその間に、いろいろあったけれど・・・
ちょっと縁があって、ぼくが以前より撮影をしている
青森の「青南商事」という日本でも有数のリサイクル会社主催で、
いよいよ、来る10月1日青森弘前にて、
“blues.the-butcher-590213”のLIVEがあるのです！
しかも、弘前の”FMアップルウェーブ”では、
「BLUES POWER」というホトケさんの番組もスタートします。

といった具合に、しっかりと何かが動き始めました。
そして先日は、その番組の収録もあったのですが、
スタジオの中で流れる浅野さんのギター、
いつも以上に、今まで以上に、しびれました。。。

とにかく、今後の動向をお楽しみに。
もちろんぼくも、写真を撮り続けていきますよ。
